HONOREE

2025 Honoree: Suzanne (Suz) Hall, BS, PT, CALT

This year, we are honored to recognize Suzanne (Suz) Hall for her longstanding dedication to advancing literacy and supporting individuals with language-based learning differences.

Suz began her career as a licensed physical therapist after earning her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Texas. Her early work at the Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center in Bryan introduced her to many children with physical disabilities, and later, she supported adults recovering from stroke—many of whom faced both physical and communication challenges. This work shaped a lifelong commitment to helping others find new pathways to independence and confidence.

In the late 1990s, Suz made the decision to pursue a second career that she described as something she could do “from her wheelchair.” She completed the Basic Language Skills training at the Neuhaus Education Center and became a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) in 2002. She began working one-on-one with students who experienced language learning differences, including scholarship recipients supported by Neuhaus, before joining the Neuhaus Education Center staff in 2005 as a Parent Resource Coordinator. Over her 19-year tenure in the Family Support Office, she played a key role in managing the scholarship program, supporting families, and helping children access the literacy instruction they needed to thrive.

Suz has also served as an instructor in the Neuhaus Adult Literacy Program since 2006. Teaching and mentoring adult learners remains her greatest professional passion, and she continues this work today with deep commitment and care.

Suz lives in Houston with her husband, Rick, whose support has been constant throughout her journey. She is the proud mother of two sons and is surrounded by family members who are her enthusiastic cheerleaders. She is grateful for a full and meaningful life and remains dedicated to “paying it forward” for many years to come.

We are pleased to honor Suz Hall for her unwavering advocacy, compassionate service, and profound impact on the Houston community.
