This contest is part of the annual Celebrating Neurodiversity Art Showcase, where students from across the Houston community come together to share their perspectives through visual art. Every student who participated contributed something unique and compelling. We are proud to celebrate their vision and the courage it takes to share their work with others.

  • An exhibition of student artwork
  • Student reflections and stories
  • A silent auction benefiting HBIDA student support and initiatives
  • Opportunities to connect with families, educators, and community partners

🎨 2025 HBIDA Art Contest Opens August 1st!

The Houston Branch of the International Dyslexia Association (HBIDA) is proud to announce that the 2025 HBIDA Art Contest will be officially open for submissions on August 1st!

This year’s theme is “Art Speaks Louder,” a celebration of the power of creative expression to communicate ideas, feelings, and perspectives that words alone may not fully capture. We invite children, teens, and adults with dyslexia or other learning differences across the Houston area to submit original artwork that reflects the spirit of neurodiversity and gives voice to their unique experiences and insights.

Who Can Enter:

  • Children, teens, and adults with dyslexia or other learning differences in the Greater Houston Area are invited to participate in the following categories:
    • Grades 1-4
    • Grades 5-8
    • Grades 9-12 & 18+

Key Dates:

  • Submissions open: August 1, 2025
  • Deadline to submit: September 10, 2025
  • Winners will be featured at the Celebrating Neurodiversity Art Showcase on December 8, 2025, held at the University of St. Thomas Link Lee Mansion.

Why Enter?

  • Selected entries will be displayed in our annual showcase.
  • Finalists will be published in our professionally printed art book.
  • All proceeds from the event benefit HBIDA and support our mission to empower students with learning differences.

How to Enter:
Submit your entry online at HBIDA Art Contest Submission Form. Be sure to review the guidelines and submission instructions on the form before uploading your work.

Details, guidelines, and the entry form will go live on August 1. Entries will be submitted digitally using the online form.
